Heavy monsoon rains are wreaking havoc in India’s capital, New Delhi, causing widespread flooding and chaos.
The city’s roads are submerged, and many businesses have been forced to shut down temporarily.
Residents are up in arms, complaining about the inadequate drainage system and demanding that the government take immediate action.
A Tragic Accident
A devastating incident occurred in the Dwarka area when a large tree fell on a house in the Garhi Nahar village, Najafgarh district, at 5:25 am local time.
A woman and her three children were trapped under the debris.
Despite rescue efforts, all four succumbed to their injuries.
The woman’s husband was injured in the incident but survived.
Travel Chaos
The heavy rainfall has also caused significant disruptions at Delhi Airport.
At least 122 flights were delayed, and 40 were rerouted.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the city, warning of intense thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of 70-80 km/h.
