India Equals Netherlands Record for Consecutive ODI Toss Losses Reaches 11

Losing the toss in consecutive matches is a rare sight in international cricket. This record in ODIs is currently held by the Netherlands team, which has now been equaled by the Indian team. With captain Rohit Sharma losing the toss against Bangladesh, it marked the 11th consecutive ODI match since 2023 where the Indian team failed to win the toss. Prior to this, the Netherlands team lost 11 consecutive tosses in ODIs from March 2011 to August 2013.

In the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh, three spin bowlers – Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav – secured spots in the Indian team’s playing 11. Additionally, Harshit Rana made his ICC tournament debut in fast bowling. After losing the toss, captain Rohit Sharma expressed his desire to field first, citing that the ball comes onto the bat well in the second innings on this ground.
