India DGMO Reveals Being a Die-Hard Fan of Virat Kohli Amidst Pakistan Ceasefire

India’s Defense Forces held a press conference for the second day in a row to discuss the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan. During the event, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), unexpectedly brought up Virat Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket. “Many Indians, including myself, are huge fans of Virat Kohli,” he said.

Kohli’s decision to retire came just days after Rohit Sharma announced his own retirement from Test cricket. Kohli is the fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket for India. He captained the Indian team in 68 Test matches, securing 40 wins.

A Powerful Air Defense System

To illustrate the effectiveness of India’s air defense system, Lieutenant General Ghai referenced the Ashes series between Australia and England. In the 1970s, Australian fast bowlers Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee dominated the English batting lineup. The phrase “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if Thommo doesn’t get ya, Lillee must” became synonymous with their prowess. Ghai drew a parallel between the Australian duo’s performance and India’s air defense system, which successfully repelled Pakistani attacks.

Ghai explained that just as Thomson and Lillee were a formidable force, India’s air defense system proved to be equally effective. The comparison highlighted the strength and resilience of India’s defense forces.

Kohli’s retirement marked the end of an era in Indian Test cricket. He leaves behind an impressive record, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of cricketers.
