India triumphs over Australia in T20 World Cup 2024: India has secured a victory over Australia in the Super-8 round of T20 World Cup 2024. This win propels India into the semi-finals and also sets a world record for most wins in the tournament.

Magnificent batting by India

India batted first, having lost the toss. A sterling performance by Rohit Sharma (92 runs off 41 balls), featuring 7 fours and 8 sixes, led the charge. Suryakumar Yadav scored 31 runs in 16 balls, while Shivam Dubey scored 28 runs and Hardik Pandya ended with an unbeaten 27 runs. India ultimately managed to score 205 runs in 20 overs.

Fine bowling by India’s bowlers

Chasing India’s target of 206, Australia’s innings began well, but India’s bowlers tightened their grip on the game in the second half, conceding only 181 runs with 7 wickets in the T20 overs. Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets, with Kuldeep Yadav picking up 2 wickets and Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah claiming one wicket apiece. This enabled India to clinch the match by 24 runs.

A landmark achievement for India

This win has earned India the record of the most wins in T20 World Cup history. With a tally of 34 wins and 15 losses from their 50 matches in the tournament so far, India has leapfrogged Sri Lanka, who have won 33 matches. South Africa currently lies third with 31 wins, ahead of Pakistan and Australia.
