India at UNGA: In the United Nations Assembly, India has made the whole world realize its power. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced to raise India in the category of developed countries by the year 2047. S Jaishankar said on Saturday that India sees itself as a developed country by the year 2047, that is, the 100th year of independence. At the same time, today’s India dreams of digitizing its remotest village and landing on the moon. He was addressing a special program ‘India@75’ here demonstrating the active India-United Nations partnership.

India became the world’s 5th largest economy amidst ups and downs

Jaishankar said that from the 18th century till now, India has seen many ups and downs, but it continued on its growth path. In the 18th century, India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) used to be about a quarter of the GDP of the whole world, i.e. about 25 percent, but by the middle of the 20th century, due to colonialism, we became one of the poorest countries in the world. It was our government that made us a founding member of the United Nations. We are proud of this that on the completion of 75 years of independence, India has again stood firmly in front of the world. We now stand before you with pride and as the fifth economy in the world.

Country running on digital path

The External Affairs Minister said that today India’s pace on the digital path has accelerated manifold. India is emerging as the strongest, most ardent and most rational democracy. India has successfully extended its food-safety net to 800 million Indians through digital technology in recent times and more than USD 300 billion of benefits have been distributed digitally. Food items are being given regularly to 40 crore people in India. He said, “We vaccinated two billion people with the corona virus and the secret is definitely digital.

India helped other countries also

The External Affairs Minister said that India has currently expanded 66 development projects in 51 countries. Jaishankar said India has responded in recent years by supplying food grains, including grants to Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Yemen and several other countries. We are a country that wants to take the troubled countries out of trouble and take them along. We believe that India’s development is linked to the rest of the world, which cannot be separated. The event was attended by UN dignitaries including President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Saba Korosi, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner. Jaishankar said that India believes that development is in the public interest and ‘open sourcing’ is the best way forward.
