Second Test Preparation
The Indian cricket team is currently in Australia, gearing up for the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In preparation for this highly anticipated match, both India and Australia are training hard in Adelaide, with the practice sessions drawing a considerable amount of attention from spectators. The Indian team, in particular, has been a major draw, attracting thousands of fans who are eager to get a glimpse of their favorite players in action.
Security Concerns Emerge
However, the massive turnout of fans at the practice sessions has raised concerns about the players’ comfort and security. With the sheer number of spectators in attendance, some of whom have been making derogatory comments and causing disruptions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been forced to take decisive action. In response to these incidents, the BCCI has announced that fans will no longer be allowed to attend the Indian team’s practice sessions in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia.
Incidents of Misbehavior
A BCCI official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the situation had become chaotic during the Indian team’s practice session in Adelaide. While only a handful of fans attended Australia’s training session, a staggering 3,000 fans turned up to watch the Indian players in action. This huge turnout led to a series of incidents that left the players feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. Some fans were overheard making indecent comments and provocations, with others making derogatory remarks about the players’ fitness levels and appearance.
Players Affected
The disruptions caused by the rowdy fans had a significant impact on the players’ ability to focus on their practice. Several players, including Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, were particularly affected by the constant chatter and commotion. In some instances, fans were even attempting to distract the players by requesting them to say hello or engage in conversations while they were in the middle of their training. These incidents have left the players feeling disturbed and have prompted the BCCI to take firm action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
