IND vs WI: Shikhar and Shreyas Covid test report negative, will participate in practice session

There is good news for Team India ahead of the second ODI between India and West Indies (IND vs WI). The team’s starter Shikhar Dhawan and middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer have been cleared of the corona infection. Both batsmen have also been given the green signal to participate in the practice session. This report has come out citing close sources.

The source has said: ‘Shikhar and Shreyas’ Covid-19 test report has come back negative. Both will be able to continue participating in the series. Although Ruturaj Gaikwad will remain in isolation.

The Indian team players will take part in the practice session on Tuesday night. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer can also be a part of this session now.

It is worth noting that just before the start of the India-Windies series, four players from the Indian team were found to be corona positive. These included starter Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer and fast pitcher Navdeep Saini. For this reason, all four players were left out of the playing XI of the first ODI against the Windies team. Mayank Agarwal and Ishan Kishan were added to the squad in place of these players. Mayank was unable to be a part of the first ODI due to quarantine rules, but Ishan Kishan was given the opportunity to open as a starter. The Indian team won this match by 6 wickets.

The second India-West Indies ODI match will be played on February 9, ie tomorrow. India will have the option to include Shikhar, Shreyas as well as KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal in the playing XI. Mayank Agarwal’s quarantine period ended and KL Rahul also joined the team after his sister’s marriage.
