BCCI has announced the call for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. There has been a big change in this. KL Rahul will assume command of the team in place of Rohit Sharma. Rohit was ruled out of the Test series for being unsuitable. He’s not in shape yet, so he won’t be playing the ODI series either.

KL Rahul has been announced as the captain and Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain of this series.

Captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against South Africa due to a hamstring injury, replaced by KL Rahul as captain of the 18-man team. All-rounders Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja have also been out for fitness reasons, while senior pacemaker Mohammed Shami, who is playing the Test series, has been rested.

“We are preparing KL Rahul. He has shown leadership. He is the best option,” said Chetan Sharma, who heads the selection committee.

Three ODIs will be played in Paarl and Cape Town on January 19, 21 and 23.
