Shardul Thakur, known for his performances across the board in Australia and England, is also looking to do well in the ongoing series against South Africa. The player, who has scored 366 runs on 67 wickets in 43 caps for India, has said he is looking forward to playing on African soil after stellar performances in England and Australia. Due to his superior hitting skills, the Indian team leadership has preferred Thakur over Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav in the first test underway against South Africa here.

Speaking to his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul told ‘BCCI.TV’: “I am looking forward to seeing my performance. I have been successful in England and Australia and hope to do well in South Africa as well. I would be happy to contribute to the conditions in South Africa. .
Shardul, who has scored 366 runs for India in 43 international games in all formats, in addition to taking 67 wickets, feels confidence is key.

“I like to plan my game both in bowling and batting. When I go out on the field, confidence is everything to me. If you’re playing white ball cricket, you think of yorkers. So I go bowling in York with complete confidence, which is important to me as a player.
The Mumbai cricketer said his goal is to be someone who always contributes to the team’s victory.
