Sanju Samson finally has a big innings in international cricket. However, it took more than 8 years for this inning to come to market. He played his first international match on July 19, 2015 and now, on December 21, 2023, he was able to score his first century. In the final and deciding game of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, he scored a brilliant century. This innings also took Team India to a score of almost 300.
Sanju Samson played this innings at a time when Team India needed it. This means that the wickets fell at one end and Sanju held his own at the other end. He played an innings of 108 runs off 114 balls. When spoken to after that inning, he seemed a little emotional. He said he was happy the result was in his favor.
Sanju Samson said, “I am really emotional.” I am very happy to have reached this century. I worked very hard physically and mentally and am now happy that the results were in my favor.
Sanju says: “They (the South Africans) bowled really well with the new ball.” Batting became more difficult as the old ball became slower. After KL was eliminated, they had momentum. Maharaj bowled very well. But Tilak and I stood firm and in the end everything worked out in our favor. Today we played with an additional all-rounder. So Tilak and I had decided to start batting fast from the 40th.
