  • The half century of Cheteshwar Pujara in the second entry

The Indian team has the upper hand in the fifth and final test between India and England. At the end of the third day’s game at the Edgbaston test, India took a 257-run lead in the first innings. In the second inning, India scored 125 runs for the loss of three wickets. Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten in 50* from 139 balls and shared a half-century partnership with Rishabh Pant (30*) for fourth wicket.

India did not get off to a good start in the second inning as Shubman Gill (4) and Hanuma Vihari (11) failed once again and soon returned to the pavilion. Virat Kohli then made a quick jumper and seemed to be on pace, but Stokes had him run for 20 with a brilliant ball.

Earlier, India eliminated England with 284 runs in response to 416 runs in their opening innings. Mohammad Siraj pitched brilliantly in the post-lunch session to neutralize the impact of Jonny Bairstow’s fine century as India eliminated England 284 on day three of Test five on Sunday to take a whopping 132-run lead in the early innings.

Bairstow scored 106 runs

The opening session of the day was entirely in Bairstow’s name (106 runs on 140 balls). Bairstow, who struggled during the second day’s game, struggled for the first 20 minutes of the third day. Following this, former India captain Virat Kohli made some comments about Bairstow’s batting and the England batsman changed his style of play. Bairstow hits some good limits from the middle and over the middle of the wicket. He also hit sixes against Mohammad Siraj and Shardul.

Bairstow partners with Billings and Stokes

In the opening session of the day, Bairstow shared a 66-run partnership with skipper Ben Stokes (25) for sixth wicket. Captain Jasprit Bumrah launched from the delivery of Shardul Thakur and ended Stokes’ 36-ball inning with a brilliant catch. Before this wicket, England hit seven fours in the 33rd-36th innings and Stokes got two lives. Following this, after breaking the 92-run partnership of Bairstow and Sam Billings (36), Siraj took the remaining three wickets for England within 43 runs.

Siraj enveloped England with four wickets

However, in the second session of the day, Siraj (4 of 66) made a comeback for the Indian team, where he took advantage of the pressure created by Mohammed Shami (2 of 78). Bairstow completed his Test career 11th century by hitting a four against Shardul Thakur (1 for 48). After this, captain Jasprit Bumrah (3 for 68) put the pressure on him by pitching tight. Because of which Bairstow, who hit 14 fours and two sixes in his innings, was only able to score six runs in the next 20 balls. To relieve the pressure, he tried to make a big shot and caught Kohli slipping.
