Bumrah becomes the first ever fast bowler after Kapil Dev becomes captain of India

Jasprit Bumrah will be the second fast bowler in Indian cricket history to captain the Indian team. Before him, there was a fast bowler who captained the India team, the great all-rounder Kapil Dev. Under Kapil’s captaincy, the Indian team won the Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1983. He captained the team since the 1982/83 season until 1987 team. Under Kapil’s captaincy, the Indian team played 108 international matches including Tests and ODIs, of which 43 matches were won, 40 matches were lost, one match was drawn, 22 matches ended in a draw and two matches were inconclusive.

Similar position of Kapil and Bumrah upon assuming the captaincy

Kapil Dev had no captaincy experience in the year 1982. Many people were shocked when he was chosen as captain, but under his captaincy, the Indian team played its sting all over the world. After 40 years, another fast pitcher on the team finds himself in the same situation. Although Bumrah is being named interim captain for only one match, but this is not going down the throat of many people.
