The tension in Team India is injury-related

As per Cricbuzz reports, MCA sources have said that Shreyas Iyer may opt out of the Rajkot Test next week after complaining of back stiffness. In fact, the National Cricket Academy has informed the BCCI about his fitness status and the team for the third Test and beyond is yet to be announced and a source has confirmed that the selectors are yet to be called for a meeting.
Iyer got a shock
It is another blow for Iyer, who has been struggling with back problems for the past 12 months. He missed the start of last year’s Border-Gavaskar series, forcing him to consider surgery to regain fitness. He missed most of the year from cricket due to a long injury layoff, returning in August ahead of the Asia Cup. The third test match against England is scheduled to take place from February 15th. Before this game, the team selection meeting was expected to take place on Thursday, February 8th, but now the meeting can take place today, February 9th. Only then can Team India’s squad for the remaining matches be announced.
