Ahead of the India v England Test match (IND vs ENG) which kicks off at Edgbaston, England captain Ben Stokes has spoken of maintaining his team’s aggressive style of playing Test cricket. Stokes told the news conference that in the same way his team played the Test series against New Zealand, it will also go against India. We reported that the English team had won every match in the just concluded Test series against New Zealand by playing aggressively.
Ben Stokes said: ‘We know that in order to tie the series, we have to win this match at all costs. But as I said last week too and you know right now we’re thinking about something bigger than the result. We are thinking about what is happening in the field. Yes, we want to win every game, but it’s more than that.
Stokes says: ‘I think we have been able to reshape Test cricket in the last three weeks with our style of play. We want people to enjoy watching us play. And I think people also enjoy watching us play because they don’t know what’s going to happen next, but they know how we’re going to play.
Stokes said: ‘We have recently beaten the best Test team in the world (New Zealand). The Indian team is definitely a completely different team, but our focus is on ourselves. We know what we do best but we also care about who is ahead of us. But it is clear that just changing the front team does not mean that we should also change.
