IND vs NZ
Reflexes
- Virat Kohli has come out for a duck for the tenth time in test cricket.
- Virat Kohli returned to the ward without opening an account for the fourth time in a calendar year.
- This is the second time that Pujara and Kohli have been fired for zero in the same innings of a Test.
The second match of the Test series is played between India and New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, with Indian captain Virat Kohli returning to the pavilion without opening an account on the first day. Kohli was the victim of kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel. In this way an embarrassing record was recorded in Kohli’s name.
In fact, this year Kohli went for a duck for the fourth time and equaled the disgraceful record for the most layoffs by an Indian captain four times in a calendar year. Previously, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni had been fired for zero four times in a calendar year as captain.

Apart from Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara was also unable to open his account on the first day of the Mumbai Test. Thus, for the third time in the history of test cricket, No. 3 and n. 4 from India were unable to open their account on a home test entry. In early 1952/53 against England in the Kanpur Test and then in the 1994/95 Mumbai Test against the West Indies, India’s No. 3 and No. 4 batsman came out for a duck.
Not only this, this is the second time that Kohli and Pujara have been fired for zero in the same innings of a Test. Previously, both hitters had returned to the pavilion without opening an account at the MCG Test in 2018.
