Incidents of senseless killings of women in the Middle East in a week

Oman / Cairo / Abu Dhabi: The brutal killings of three women in Arab countries over the past week have shaken the Arab world, with all three suspects arrested or killed.

According to international media reports, women were brutally killed in tragic incidents in Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates last week.

The United Nations Department of Gender Equality, which empowers women, calls such killings feminist. Recently, Naira Ashraf, a student of Mansoura University in Egypt, was stabbed to death in broad daylight.

The motive for the killing was a refusal to propose marriage, and passersby played a key role in apprehending the attacker.

In another incident, Iman al-Rashid, an 18-year-old student, was shot dead on the campus of a university in Amman, Jordan.

Similarly, in a similar tragic incident in Sharjah, a husband was involved who had beaten his wife 16 times after an argument.

CCTV footage from the parking lot of the woman’s residence shows the killer attacking the woman in his car. The killer’s husband was later arrested at the beach.

Authorities in Jordan also tracked down the killer in a town north of Zarqa, and police shot him in the head in an attempt to apprehend him.

Ibrahim al-Zubayn, a professor of sociology at the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in the Saudi capital Riyadh, commented on the tragedy, saying it was a global issue that was not specific to any one region or society.
