Sidhu Moose Wala: Late Indian singer in a hoarding being used for election campaign in Pakistan Sidhu Musewala And pictures of his popular song ‘295’ are being shown. Moosewala’s popularity is being exploited to woo voters in the upcoming by-elections in the country’s Punjab province. Musewala’s picture with Zain Qureshi was used on hoardings of Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, during the campaign for the by-election to PP 217 seat in Multan region of Punjab. This information came out in the news of News International newspaper.
By-elections in Punjab province on July 27
Zain Qureshi is the son of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (28) alias Sidhu Musewala was shot dead on 29 May in Mansa district of Punjab state, India. The posters used in the election campaign featured the singer’s popular song ‘295’, the news said. The song is a commentary on a section of the Indian Penal Code that deals with hurting religious sentiments. The by-elections are due on July 17.
Poster viral because of Sidhu’s picture
When Zain Qureshi was asked about the picture of Musewala on the election campaign hoarding, he said that he did not know anything. Qureshi told BBC Urdu, “I want to thank all those who have printed Sidhu Musewala’s picture on the poster. Because of this picture, this poster went viral. Earlier none of our posters went viral. “They are trying to find out who printed the picture on the poster and why,” he said. It is worth mentioning that Moosewala has a good number of fans in Pakistan.
Musewala was murdered in May
It is worth mentioning that Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead on 29 May in Mansa district of Punjab. He had contested the state assembly elections from Mansa in February on a Congress ticket. Gangsters Laurence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar have been named behind his murder. According to the Punjab Police, Sidhu Musewala had left the house in a bulletproof car without security on the day of the murder. During this, the attackers opened fire after stopping his car. Musewala was rushed to the hospital without delay, where he was declared brought dead.
