TOKYO – An Indian strain of the corona virus has made the situation worse in Japan, a survey report said on Monday.
According to the survey report, the vast majority of infected people in Japan are now infected with the highly contagious strain of corona virus, the Delta variant, with a Delta infection rate of 98% in the Tokyo area.
The National Institute of Infectious Diseases reviewed data from seven private sector companies that conducted corona virus tests, which analyzed the rate of variable L452R viruses in certified cases.
The institute presented its report to a panel of experts from the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, stating that the rate of people infected with the mutated virus, which has risen to 98% in Tokyo, is the highest. The delta part is variable rate.
The total toll in Tokyo and neighboring Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba was 98 percent.
In the western regions of Osaka, Kyoto and Hugo, the rate of viruses transmitted by L452R has increased dramatically to 92 percent from a low in early July.
The National Institute also estimates that the overall rate of people infected with these viruses is 99% in Okinawa, 97% in Fukuoka, 94% in Aichi and 85% in Hokkaido.
Observers note that the spread of the delta floating rate has led to a sharp rise in infections and hospital admissions, which worries the medical system in Tokyo and elsewhere.
