And it is that the displaced intra-articular fracture of the base of the first metacarpal suffered by Marc Máquez in the Portuguese GP has caused the Honda rider not to arrive in time to compete in conditions for the next Spanish GP that will be held in Jerez this weekend.

That is why his team has published a statement confirming the absence of Márquez in Jerez. And, he points to the next French GP, which will take place at the legendary Le Mans circuit between May 12 and 14, as the objective for his return.
The place vacated by the eight-time world champion will be taken by Iker Lekuona, from Team HRC in WorldSB. The Valencian rider has already competed in MotoGP in 2020 and 2021 in the ranks of KTM. This is the third race that Márquez has lost in this World Cup, after Argentina and the United States.

Regarding the penalty that may await him on his return, Márquez has classified it as “something secondary”.
