AMAZONAS: A sudden bridge collapses in Brazil as vehicles pass through it, killing 3 and leaving more than a dozen missing.
According to details, a bridge collapsed while passing vehicles in the Brazilian Amazon, killing at least three and missing as many as 15. The bridge is said to have already cracked.
Firefighters and local media said a concrete bridge collapse in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas has been confirmed, the Amazonas Fire Department said Wednesday, in the town of Carreiro, about 100 kilometers south of the provincial capital Manaus. The bridge has collapsed, and more than a dozen people are being searched.
According to officials, some vehicles were crossing the bridge when the bridge collapsed, injuring 14 people.
Photos showed the main part of the bridge lying in deep brown water with some vehicles, including a white truck, submerged in the river.
