From Wednesday, August 4, all women residing in Argentina who have had children will be able to benefit from additional annuities upon retirement.
Within a few months of obtaining the right related to the voluntary interruption of pregnancy (abortion), Argentines will benefit from a new significant advance in favor of women’s rights. In fact, many aspects of motherhood will now be included in the retirement calculation.
“With this measure we give visibility and repair a historical and structural inequality, recognizing and valuing the time that women dedicate to the education of their children,” said the National Social Security Agency (ANSES) in comments reported by Courrier International.
In detail, women who gave birth in Argentina will receive an annuity for each child and two years for each adoption. To this you can add one year for a child with a disability and two annuities if they have received similar aid to family allowances for twelve months, according to the economic newspaper Ámbito Financiero.
As of this year, 155,000 mothers should benefit from this new device, while about 300,000 of them, aged between 60 and 64, were deprived of it before the enactment of this law.
In France, women spend twice as much time caring for their children as men.
