Banco BHD reported in Fitur that in 2022 it signed structured financing for hotel projects for US$ 230 million, mostly bilateral credits.
These projects represent a total investment of US$ 625 million for the development of tourism in the Dominican Republic, in destinations such as Santo Domingo, Miches, Uvero Alto and Cabeza de Toro. These investments will enable the creation of more than 2,500 direct jobs and more than 2,200 rooms.
Luis Molina Maríñez, Senior Vice President of Corporate and Business Banking at Banco BHD, said that “we return to Fitur this 2023 to continue our work to support the development of the country and the tourism sector, which we have been doing since 2009. I can affirm with great satisfaction that we currently have the most diversified portfolio of tourist clients in the country and that the BHD is a leader in financing city hotels and in supporting the strengthening of the complementary offer”.
Among the financing granted in 2022, the remodeling and expansion of the Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana hotel complex for US$ 35.4 million stands out, which included the advisory service in raising capital. This operation is the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic carried out by a single financial group with the participation of BHD Fondos.
Likewise, the remodeling of the Natura Park Beach Eco Resort & Spa and its brand change to Dreams Flora, which will have a modern convention center, a water park, a world-class spa and restaurant alternatives, as well as 494 expanded rooms and completely renovated common spaces.
Banco BHD’s agenda at Fitur 2023 includes private and client meetings, business and institutional forums, among other activities.

BHD’s value proposition for the tourism sector
BHD’s proposal of products and services for the tourism sector includes payments, collections, liquidity management, investment, business credit cards and digital channels such as Business Internet Banking. Likewise, loan structuring services, syndicated loan administration, sale and leasebackresource management in capital market, mergers and acquisitions.
These services are offered by a team of experts in financing structuring in the tourism and related services, mass consumption and commerce, infrastructure and construction, manufacturing and agricultural, financial institutions, government and social sector sectors.
In addition, the proposal includes advice on investment in the stock market with the support of BHD Puesto de Bolsa, BHD Fondos and Fiduciaria BHD; as well as the possibility of taking advantage of the products and services of AFP Siembra, MAPFRE BHD Seguros and MAPFRE Salud ARS.
