Implementation of new rules for drivers in Saudi Arabia

New rules have been announced for bus drivers in Saudi Arabia, which set a maximum driving time of 9 hours per day.

According to Gulf News, Saudi Arabia has started implementing an official decision that outlines the working and resting hours of bus drivers in the kingdom as part of efforts by authorities to increase road safety.

In a decision issued by the Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA), the maximum driving hours per day are set at 9 hours, which can be extended twice a week by one hour, for drivers who work weekly. The hours are fixed at a maximum of 56 hours and the total permitted working hours in 14 days should not exceed 90 hours.

The new rules enacted state that rest time during work is fixed at 45 minutes per 4.5 driving hours and 11 hours per 23 hours while weekly rest time is fixed at 45 hours non-stop for a maximum of 6 working days.
