Ile-de-France: a firefighter against compulsory vaccination protests on the roof of his barracks

A volunteer firefighter protested against compulsory vaccination, this Tuesday, August 31, on the roof of his barracks, located in Ablis (Yvelines).

While from September 15, professional and volunteer firefighters will have to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to continue working, the man for his part settled in the building early in the morning, with a tent, and this, for several hours, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Aged 46, the firefighter, married and father of three, did not come down until midday, after a discussion with the police, said the Yvelines gendarmes. After which Stéphane, who intended to go on a hunger strike to express his discontent, tendered his resignation.

“One day you are a firefighter, the next day you are less than nothing because you refuse to be vaccinated”, he declared facing the camera in a YouTube video, viewed more than 2000 times, and over the course of which he shows his acts of courage and dedication.

“In order to show my dismay at the unfair and discriminatory measures of our government, I will only feed myself with water. No to compulsory vaccination for children. No to compulsory vaccination for firefighters and caregivers, ”wrote the professional on a board perched with him on the roof of the building.

According to the Interior Ministry, 72% of firefighters – including almost all professionals – had received at least one dose of vaccine by August 20 (against 54% a week earlier).
