Ikea invests 3,000 million euros to adapt to electronic commerce

The furniture retailer Ikea will invest 3,000 million euros until 2023 in new and existing stores. Much of this investment is to modify its out-of-town outlets so they can function as e-commerce distribution centers.

The money would be spent across all regions, although around a third is earmarked for London, a testbed for new store formats and logistics setups.

For this reason, they focused on renewing the website and launching a new application, as well as digital services such as remote planning tools.

As part of the new model, the Scandinavian company plans to invest in automation of the warehouses of these stores, taking into account the perspective that customers request affordable and good quality products.
