IFFI Cancels Iconic ‘Sholay’ Screening, Honors Star Dharmendra

The Indian International Film Festival (IFFI) has canceled a scheduled screening of the classic film ‘Sholay’. The 4K restored version of the movie was set to be shown on November 26.

Organizers attributed the cancellation to technical reasons.

Despite this setback, legendary actor Dharmendra, who starred in ‘Sholay’, is receiving a special tribute at the festival. He will be honored during the closing ceremony.

Prakash Magdum, Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), confirmed the plans. He stated that a minute of silence would be observed during the film market’s closing ceremony as a mark of respect for the beloved actor.

‘Sholay’ recently celebrated its golden jubilee. Director Ramesh Sippy, who helmed the iconic film, is expected to attend a festival session on November 27.

The festival is also featuring another tribute to Dharmendra’s cinematic legacy. The famous motorcycle he rode as his character Veeru in ‘Sholay’ is currently on display, evoking strong emotions among attendees.
