A problem with Microsoft Teams caused Android devices where this app is installed cannot make emergency calls to 112, 911 or other numbers depending on your region.
Both Microsoft and Google were quick to find a solution to this issue, with the patch coming to Android with the January update.
As we all know, it can take a long time for the update to be implemented on all phones. That’s why, Google is asking users to update their Microsoft Teams app.
While most people probably have automatic updates turned on on their Android phones, some users may have it turned off or simply don’t have enough free space on their smartphones to download updates.
These are the only people Google is contacting via email, according to a tweet shared by Mishaal Rahman.
Your phone has probably already been automatically updated to the Teams version that fixes the bug, especially if you haven’t received an email like this from Google.

The issue occurs if a specific set of conditions is met, but due to the severity in an emergency, it’s good for Google to proactively contact users and ask them to update the Teams app.
If you haven’t updated Teams yet, it’s time. Be sure to go to the Play Store and see if an update button appears in Microsoft Teams.
