In a newspaper report, Rohit Sharma quoted the official present at the meeting as telling the board members, “If you want to select me for the T20 World Cup, then tell me about it immediately.” According to the report, all the officials, selectors and Coach Rahul Dravid is unanimously ready to hand over the command of the T20 World Cup to Rohit Sharma. Even the selectors wanted Rohit to take charge of Team India from the T20 series against South Africa itself, but Rohit asked for a break of a few days.

This review meeting of BCCI was organized in New Delhi. However, Rohit Sharma attended this meeting through video conferencing. In fact, the Indian captain is enjoying his vacation in London these days. He only traveled to London after the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma will not play in both the T20 and ODI series against South Africa. He will lead the Indian team in the two-match Test series. Following Rohit’s request to take a break, the selectors have appointed Suryakumar Yadav as captain for the three-match T20 series against South Africa. KL Rahul will take charge of the ODI series.
