If you have an iPhone or iPad, you should update it now if you don’t want to expose yourself to security risks.
Apple announced it was discovered a zero day vulnerability which affects a large number of devices and which can be actively exploited by hackers.
The company launched Updates for iOS 15.0.2 and iPadOS 15.0.2 to fix this issue. The vulnerability affects the following devices: iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).
The flaw is in the devices’ IOMobileFrameBuffer and the company shared that, if exploited correctly, hackers can use it to run arbitrary code with kernel privileges on target devices, which means they can basically hijack your phone or tablet and do whatever you want with them. This could include things like injecting malware or stealing your data.
Apple says the vulnerability was discovered by an “anonymous investigator” but didn’t provide much detail about who might be the target or how it was discovered.
