“If Rohit, Virat and Bumrah play…” Statement on the challenge of team selection in the T20 World Cup

Now there are just six months left until the T20 World Cup. Team India will also play only 6 T20 internationals in these 6 months. With this in mind, selecting the Indian team will not be easy. Especially when there are at least three candidates for each spot on the team.

Currently, the Indian team is full of good cricketers from senior to youth teams. In such a situation, selecting 15 players for the T20 World Cup is a challenging task for team management. Former cricketer Parthiv Patel has spoken about this problem faced by the Indian team.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Parthiv said, “In my opinion, the Indian team’s biggest challenge in the T20 format has always been choosing the right combination.” And this time we don’t even have many games left. Now we only have three T20 matches against Afghanistan in which Virat, Rohit and Bumrah can play.

Parthiv says, “Either they can go for the players who will be the best in the IPL.” But even in such a situation, the selectors have to announce the team only halfway through the IPL. So that’s a big challenge. Well, I’m sure before announcing the team (for the South African T20 series), they must have thought about who will be playing for the T20 World Cup.

Parthiv says, “I think the decision to tour Africa with the youth team means they are looking for more options.” There is no dearth of talent in India. But that’s also the problem. Having so many good players is also a problem. We have to find the right combination.
