Iceland Cricket creates uproar by comparing Ashwin to former greats Richard Hadlee and Shane Warne

In the early innings of the first Test match to be played between India and Bangladesh, R Ashwin scored his 13th career half-century. He played a 58-run innings off 113 balls. R Ashwin played this inning when all the team’s batters had returned to the pavilion. Bowler Kuldeep Yadav also supported Ashwin in this innings. Kuldeep scored 40 runs in this first innings. Due to this innings by both of them, the Indian team managed to put 404 runs on the board in the first innings. Following this Ashwin entry, Iceland Cricket tweeted for Ashwin, after which there was panic all around.

Iceland Cricket tweeted: “When people list the best all-rounders in the Test, R Ashwin’s name rarely comes up.” But he has nearly 3,000 runs at the same average as Hadlee, including five hundred. Not to mention around 450 wickets at a lower average than Warne.”

R Ashwin has played a total of 86 Test matches in his Test career so far, in which he has taken 442 wickets at an average of 24.13 while bowling. His average is lower than veteran Shane Warne’s. While batting, he scored 2,989 runs in 124 innings of 86 matches at an average of 27.12. His batting average is very close to that of Richard Hadlee. In addition to this, Ashwin also completed 1700 runs while batting at number eight in Test cricket. The former Indian captain had just touched this figure.

Significantly, former New Zealand veteran Richard Hadlee has scored 3124 runs in 150 innings from 86 Test matches at a career average of 27.16. While bowling he has taken 431 wickets at an average of 27.16. On the other hand, former Australian spinner Shane Warne has taken 708 wickets in 145 Tests at an average of 25.41.
