ICC Announces Record Prize Money for World Test Championship 2025 Final Winner

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize pool for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025. The final match will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s Cricket Ground in England from June 11 to 15. The total prize money for this year’s WTC has been increased by 125% compared to the previous edition.

The winning team will take home a staggering $3.5 million, equivalent to around ₹30.8 crore. The runner-up will receive $2.1 million, or approximately ₹18.5 crore. This is a significant jump from the previous edition, where the runner-up received only ₹6.8 crore. The ICC has made a conscious effort to promote Test cricket by increasing the prize money across the board. Notably, no team will leave empty-handed, with even the teams that finish lower down the table receiving a substantial amount. India, which finished third, will receive ₹12 crore.

Prize Money Breakdown

Here’s a breakdown of the prize money for the top teams:

  • The winning team will receive $3.5 million.
  • The runner-up will receive $2.1 million.
  • The third-placed team will receive $1.36 million.

The ICC’s decision to increase the prize money is a welcome move for Test cricket, which has been struggling to attract viewers in recent years. By making the tournament more lucrative, the ICC hopes to attract more teams and players to compete at the highest level.
