Ibiza JoySail regatta focuses the attention of superyachts

The Ibiza JoySail opens this Thursday. This new regatta on the international calendar will be held until Sunday and was born with the aim that large sailboats have the opportunity to discover regatta sailing in one of the magical enclaves such as the triangle between Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The islands and islets that make up the Pitiusas Islands such as Espalmador, Es Vedrá and Espardell will be for the first time witnesses of a regatta that wants to be a benchmark in the world of the competition of the SuperYachts.

Boats from 80 to 120 feet will compete in this Ibiza JoySail, which is the only offshore race between islands. To begin with, there will be a route between Punta de Cala Figuera (Mallorca) and the island of Tagomago (Ibiza) of 60 nautical miles and where they will try to establish the record between the two islands. The other routes will be coastal in the waters of Ibiza and Formentera of between 15 and 30 miles, using the islands and buoys to configure the final routes depending on the weather conditions. Some of the boats that will participate in this first edition are the Highland Fling 15 (Swan 115), Shamanna (Swan 115), Bliss (Dubois 121) and Dark Horse (Swan 80).

The fleet will be divided into two categories: Performance and Corinthian, and will compete under the system ORC SuperYacht, in line with other boat events of these characteristics. The Ibiza Joy Sail is a great attraction for what it represents the island and superyachts.
