Spanish companies are making their mark on Temu, with Iberian ham paving the way. Don Ibérico, a 100-year-old family-run business from Guijuelo, has joined the Chinese e-commerce platform. This move gives Spanish products a chance to reach European consumers. The company is known for making high-quality cured meats.
Don Ibérico is now in its fourth generation of family leadership. Álex Fernández took over the business from his grandfather. During the pandemic, the company faced a major challenge. “We realized we needed more than just an informative website,” Fernández said. “We had to sell online to survive.” The pandemic forced Don Ibérico to close its physical store temporarily. This accelerated the company’s digital transformation. Fernández launched an online store and created a new brand called Monjamón. The brand has a fresh image and is geared towards young, gourmet customers.
Temu has been a game-changer for Don Ibérico. The company can now sell its products in Germany, Sweden, and other European countries. It maintains control over its brand and keeps prices fair without sacrificing quality. “We don’t produce on an industrial scale,” Fernández said. “We work with local farmers and control every step of the process.” Don Ibérico’s products on Temu are labeled as “local warehouse,” which reduces shipping times. Customers can receive their orders in as little as one business day.
More Spanish Gourmet Products on Temu
Don Ibérico isn’t the only company using Temu to reach global customers. All Delicious, another Spanish business, has also joined the platform. They sell high-quality Spanish products, including extra virgin olive oil from JaenCoop. All Delicious plans to expand across Europe. “We want good Spanish products to be available to everyone, not just restaurants,” said Juan Salguero, a spokesperson for All Delicious. “Temu shares this vision.”
To ensure product authenticity and safety, Temu requires certifications like IFS (International Featured Standards). This guarantees quality throughout the supply chain. “It’s a lengthy process, but it’s worth it,” Salguero said. “Customers trust that they’re buying genuine products.” Fernández agrees, “Technology helps, but it can’t replace traditional know-how. Our goal is to preserve traditional methods, and Temu helps us achieve that.”
