Iberia Express suspends flights due to a strike

Iberia Express, the low-cost branch of the Iberia company, suspended eight domestic flights on Sunday after calling a ten-day strike by cabin crew, who are asking for salary improvements due to inflation.

The strike, which began this Sunday, will last until September 6, and “92 cancellations in total with more than 17,000 Iberia Express passengers affected” are expected in that period, according to sources from the USO union, which called the mobilization.

The strike of this low-cost company coincides with strikes by other competing airlines, such as EasyJet or Ryanair.

Yesterday, eight flights were suspended, according to a union statement, which assured that 1,500 passengers were affected.

Iberia Express confirmed the cancellations in a statement, assuring that it had organized alternative transport for 84% of the affected passengers, and that the rest opted for a refund or coupons. Also 12 EasyJet flights were canceled yesterday.
