Pakistan captain Babar Azam on Friday dismissed rumors of the pressure on his side and said they would rely on their experience of Sri Lankan conditions to do well in the Asia Cup game against India.
Pakistan played a two-game Test series in Sri Lanka in July and then many of their players stayed there to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), including captain Babar Azam. After the LPL, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan 3-0 in the three-game ODI series. Babar said his team is in good shape after this tour.
Babar Azam said in the pre-India game press conference: “We have been here since July. We played test matches, played some league games (LPL) and then played ODIs (against Afghanistan). We hope to have that experience against India tomorrow.” will help us.
Babar dismissed talk of pressure related to the Indo-Pakistan game, saying he was only concentrating on the game rather than external things. He said: “There is no extra pressure. Yes, the game between India and Pakistan is always full of emotions, but we have experienced players and we just have to focus on our strengths and perform well.”
‘Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam’ has become a popular topic in cricket discussions in recent times, but Babar said he respects the former India captain. Babar said: “I respect Virat Kohli. He’s older than me and I’ve always respected him. I spoke to him when I started playing and I got help from him. I don’t know people out there are talking about it. Leave these things to him.
