The Telangana-North East Connect Film Festival recently concluded in Hyderabad. The event successfully fostered collaboration between the film industries of Telangana and India’s North Eastern states.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to boost cinema, skill development, and film tourism between the regions.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy attended the festival. Minister Reddy noted the MoU was initiated by the Governor to connect the film industries. He also highlighted Telangana’s growing presence in pan-Indian cinema.

Film director Harish Shankar also expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership. He called the MoU a “historic day” for Telangana and Assam. Shankar looks forward to collaborating on filmmaking projects in Assam as a director and writer.

Simanta Shekhar, Chairperson of the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation, shared his optimism. He stated the MoU would benefit cinema, skill development, and film tourism.

Among the artists honored was South actress Ananya Nagalla. She received two awards at the festival. Nagalla expressed her delight at participating in the program.
