The words hung heavy in the air as Daniel Salgado, the husband of social media personality Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, recently spoke out. He shared his heartbreak days after his wife’s life was tragically cut short by a stray bullet. It’s one thing to lose your other half, he explained, but it’s a completely different kind of pain when it happens right in front of you, and you are powerless to stop it.
Yarely was just 27 years old, with so much life ahead of her. The couple had just settled into a new apartment. Her career online, where she was known for her cooking and lifestyle content, was really starting to take off. All of that potential, all of her future, was stolen in an instant, Salgado shared during a press conference with the Glendale Police Department in Arizona on Wednesday, August 20. You can watch parts of his emotional address here: Facebook Live.
It was a senseless act of violence. According to a GoFundMe page set up for Hermosillo’s family, Yarely was an innocent bystander. She was caught in the middle of a heated road rage incident between other drivers. Although she wasn’t involved in the argument herself, she was struck. Salgado rushed her to the hospital, but she passed away on Friday, August 15.
Yarely’s mother and four-year-old son were also in the car at the time of the shooting. Thankfully, they were not hurt.
When Salgado tried to speak about Yarely, tears welled up. He described her as the “glue” that held their family together. She loved to joke around and was the person you could always count on. If you needed her, she would drop everything to be there for you. He also mentioned her incredible talent as a cook.

As Yarely’s loved ones begin to grieve, Salgado can’t help but focus on their young son. It pains him to see his four-year-old go to bed at night without being able to snuggle with his mom. He added that when they go for walks, their son still expects Yarely to come out of the house, just as she always did.
Thankfully, there’s been movement in the case. Police documents, reported by People, state that a man was arrested on Saturday, August 16. This was just a day after Yarely passed away. The suspect is facing serious charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct with weapons, and endangerment. He is being held on a $1 million bond. A preliminary court hearing is set for Tuesday, August 26.
During the emotional press conference, Salgado thanked every single police officer who worked on his wife’s case. He wants people to know that even after such a terrible experience, there are good people in the world.
Before answering questions from reporters, Salgado also shared a final message for his late wife. Yarely had built a community of more than 143,000 followers across her social media platforms through her engaging content. “Yarely, we miss you,” he said. “And I pray you get the justice you deserve for this malicious and avoidable act.”
