Hurricane Ida has wreaked havoc in seven US states.

According to a foreign news agency, the severe storm has displaced thousands of people. Millions of consumers have lost power while hundreds of flights have been canceled.

In New York, 11 people were killed when water filled the basements of buildings. According to US media, the death toll from various storms has risen to 48.

River levels in New Jersey and Pennsylvania continue to rise. Nearby populations are at risk, while heavy rains and storms have declared an emergency.
