Hungary: eight dead in motorway bus accident

Eight people died this Sunday in a bus accident on the highway 70 km southwest of Budapest (Hungary).

At around 5 am, the vehicle, which was carrying about 50 passengers, collided with the pile of a viaduct that led to the road for an undetermined reason, according to the Hungarian police on their website.

Two other passengers were seriously injured and 46 more slightly. At this stage, no details have been provided on the age and identity of the victims.

Among the last major road accidents in Hungary, 33 people were killed in 2003 in a collision between a train and a German tourist bus in Siofok, a coastal city 100 km southwest of Budapest, on the shores of Lake Balaton, in one of the most tourist regions of the country.
