Hungary Coach Rossi Hails ‘Very Good Display’ in Fair Draw Against Portugal

Hungarian coach Marco Rossi expressed pride in his team’s “very good performance” during a “fair” 2-2 draw against football powerhouse Portugal.

Rossi acknowledged Portugal held nearly double the ball possession, a statistic he anticipated from the outset. He credited his squad for effective high defense, which limited Portugal’s ability to easily control the game, despite the presence of midfielders like Vitinha.

“We played well, at certain moments we had luck, but we put in a very good performance,” Rossi told reporters. He described the outcome as a just draw for his team.

The coach stated he was proud of his players but remained realistic about future prospects. “I cannot promise anyone that we will get points,” Rossi said, “but I can promise that we will go onto the field with dignity.”

Hungary’s draw came after a 3-2 home loss to one of the “most powerful and strong teams in the world.” Portugal now requires only one more point to secure qualification, though Rossi cautioned them against viewing upcoming matches as mere friendlies.

Ultimately, Rossi emphasized the significance of their supporters. “Our fans are proud of us and that is the most important thing,” he concluded.
