The curtains have closed on Peter Gulacsi’s international career. The 35-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper announced his retirement from the national team.
Gulacsi took to Instagram to express his gratitude and pride. He said, “An incredible chapter has come to an end, an unforgettable journey.” He reminisced about the memories, challenges, and joys he experienced during his time with the team.
Before joining the senior team, Gulacsi made a name for himself in the youth squads. He reached the semifinals of the European Under-19 Championship, won bronze at the Under-20 World Cup, and captained the Under-21 team.
With the senior team, Gulacsi participated in three European Championships, playing in two of them, including one at home in the Puskás Arena. He made his debut on May 22, 2014, in a 2-2 draw against Denmark. His last game was in September last year, a 0-5 loss to Germany in the Nations League.
Gulacsi posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking his teammates and coaches. His post included a photo from his time with the national team.
