The Price Stabilization Institute (INESPRE) returned this Saturday to sell some products from the family basket, with a view to continuing to lower the cost of food for mass consumption.

Last weekend INESPRE established its popular sales center at a Regional Fair in Azua, where buyers came to purchase from the family basket.

Housewives and fathers of families go to the sales center on Saturdays to buy rice in five-pound bags for 100 pesos, sausages, chicken up to five pounds for RD$150, potatoes for 70 pesos a pound, egg cartons for 90 pesos, ham at 70 pesos a pound, beans, pigeon peas, casabe, corn, onions at 50 pesos a pound, garlic at 100 pesos, spaghetti at RD$25 a pound, as well as food and fruit of different kinds.

Buyers assure that they go to Inespre, because there they can buy products up to 60 percent cheaper than they buy in traditional stores.

The people consulted understand that INESPRE should send more rice, chicken, and pork, which are products highly demanded by housewives.

Inespre has been with the farmers’ market for several weeks, which has served to help families face the high costs experienced by the products of the basic basket.
