Human remains found in freezer in New Orleans

Authorities investigating the disappearance of a woman reported missing found a headless human torso in a freezer inside an old bus parked next to a New Orleans home.

A man who lived in the home was arrested on an obstruction charge after the remains were found, but no charges were brought for the death itself, according to news outlets.

WDSU-TV reported that residents said police were in the neighborhood Sunday asking if they smelled anything strange. Officers returned Tuesday with a search warrant for a home where a graffiti-covered bus was parked.

Officers, investigating the whereabouts of a woman last seen in November, found dismembered remains in a freezer inside the bus, media reported. The identity of the person or the cause of death was not determined at the moment.

Benjamin Beale, 34, was arrested on multiple charges, including obstruction of justice in a homicide investigation. Beale was also charged with crimes including operating a drug lab and distributing methamphetamine.

No court records were available Wednesday to contact an attorney who could give Beale’s version.
