Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster just gave fans a glimpse into their very public romance. The popular Broadway stars were spotted arriving at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport on Thursday, September 18. They looked ready for an adventure, or perhaps just a casual trip out of town.
Photos, first shared by People magazine, showed the pair looking quite relaxed. Jackman, 56, was busy managing two suitcases and had a backpack slung over his shoulder. Foster, 50, walked right alongside her boyfriend, carrying her own backpack and a stylish purse.
They both opted for a low-key airport style. Jackman wore a blue polo shirt, dark jeans, and a jacket. He also had a black face mask and a baseball cap on. Foster looked comfortable in a yellow cardigan, green sweatpants, and a simple t-shirt.
Their journey together began long before these airport sightings. Reports from Us Weekly in November 2024 detailed how Jackman and Foster first grew close. They spent a lot of time together during their 2022 run in the Broadway musical The Music Man.
Before their romance bloomed, they were simply friends. Both were married to other people at the time. Jackman was wed to Deborra-Lee Furness, while Foster was married to Ted Griffin. Jackman and Furness announced their separation in September 2023. Foster later filed for divorce from Griffin in October 2024.
“The relationship between Sutton and Hugh is why Hugh and Deb got divorced,” a source told Us at the time. “Many people on Broadway knew. We kept it a secret because they are both very kind, great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair, and the timing lined up.”
Two months after those initial reports, Jackman and Foster subtly confirmed their relationship. The star of Deadpool & Wolverine was seen supporting Foster at the final performance of her musical “Once Upon a Mattress” in Los Angeles. Just days later, photographers caught the couple on a dinner date in Santa Monica. Since then, Foster and Jackman have been openly holding hands and showing affection in public.
“They don’t officially live together, but they spend a lot of time together,” a second source exclusively told Us in February. The Broadway stars are “relieved and happy” that they no longer have to keep their romance a secret.
Jackman’s divorce from Furness was a bit of a longer process. Though they separated in 2023, Furness didn’t officially file for divorce until almost two years later. Us confirmed that Furness submitted the paperwork in May. This suggests the former couple had quietly worked out the details of their divorce after announcing their separation. Jackman and Furness’s divorce was made official the very next month.
After the divorce was finalized, Jackman and Foster enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation. Us reported they took a break in the Berkshires in July. An additional source told Us that the couple had “a little getaway” to the luxurious Canyon Ranch wellness resort in Lenox, Massachusetts.
