Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster Debut as Couple Amid Affair Claims

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster officially debuted as a couple on the red carpet. The pair attended the world premiere of Jackman’s new film, Song Sung Blue. The event closed the annual AFI festival at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, October 26.

Jackman, 57, wore a black tuxedo for the occasion. Foster, 50, opted for a sleek, floor-length black satin slip dress. They smiled and embraced while posing for photographs.

Jackman also appeared with his Song Sung Blue co-star, Kate Hudson. Hudson dazzled in a burnt orange silky gown. In the film, Jackman and Hudson portray real-life married couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who formed the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.

The red carpet appearance follows months of speculation about Jackman and Foster’s relationship. The two previously starred together in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man. Their romance appeared to be confirmed in January.

That month, they were seen holding hands during a low-key date night in Los Angeles. They were also photographed kissing in a San Fernando, California, In-N-Out Burger drive-thru.

In February, a source told Us Weekly that the stars were "madly in love." The source added they were "relieved and happy" to openly show their affection after their respective separations. "They don’t officially live together, but they spend a lot of time together," the source noted.

Foster filed for divorce from her husband, Ted Griffin, in October 2024. Their marriage lasted almost a decade, and they share an 8-year-old adopted daughter.

Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, announced their separation in September 2023. They had been married for 27 years. "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage," the former couple stated in a joint announcement. "Our journey now is changing and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."

The statement emphasized their family as a top priority. Jackman and Furness adopted two children, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20.

However, a source claimed to Us in November 2024 that Foster and Jackman’s relationship was the reason for the divorce. "Many people on Broadway knew about it and we kept it quiet because they are both very nice, great people," the source stated. "Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and they coincided."

Furness, 69, broke her silence on the separation in May after filing for divorce. In a statement to the Daily Mail, she shared her perspective. "My heart and compassion are with those who have lived the traumatic journey of betrayal," Furness said.

"It is a deep wound that cuts very deep; however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you believe as a guide, is always working FOR us," she continued. "This belief has helped me get through the breakup of a marriage of almost three decades. I have gained a lot of knowledge and wisdom from this experience." Furness concluded, "Even when facing apparent adversity, it guides us to our greater good, our true purpose."
