Huge gaming company unveils new blockchain game

Ubisoft, the company behind, among other things, the world-famous Assassin’s Creed series, is going to launch a blockchain game. It will be one role playing game (RPG) and will be available on PC. The game will use the Oasys (OAS) blockchain.

Ubisoft goes for blockchain

The brand new Web3 game is hot Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. Ubisoft describes the game as a tactical one player-versus-player (PvP)RPG. Ubisoft is not yet releasing any gameplay or screenshots from the game. Well there is one teaser trailer of the game, and the official description reads as follows:

“Form a team of mythical victors, take part in thrilling tactical battles against other players, and discover the legends of the dark and mystical world of Grimoria.”

The game will be Ubisoft’s first game to use Oasys, a blockchain focused on gaming. Other major gaming studios have also expressed interest in Oasys. For example, Doublejump.Tokyo announced last fall that it wanted to launch a game using this blockchain.

The official Champions Tactics website suggests that the game will be free at launch. Nothing is known about the exact launch date of the game, but Ubisoft reports that the game will be launched “soon”.

Gaming embraces blockchain

With the upcoming Web3 game from Ubisoft, the company joins the ranks of major gaming studios that dare to take the step into Web3 land. Earlier this year, in March, South Korean Nexon announced that it would use the Polygon Network (MATIC) for their latest game.

For some time now, more and more large gaming companies have been announcing that they are taking the step to blockchain technology, but so far we have not seen any really big games embrace this. Whether Ubisoft’s new game will be a hit remains to be seen. The huge publisher is not yet attaching a big name to it.
