Huawei Pura 80 Ultra: Highest DXOMARK Score, Best Smartphone Camera

Huawei’s new Pura 80 Ultra smartphone has achieved the highest-ever camera rating from DXOMARK, solidifying its position as a global leader in mobile photography technology.

The independent imaging authority awarded the Pura 80 Ultra a record-setting score of 175 points after extensive scientific measurements and perceptual analysis. This distinction places the device ahead of all competitors in DXOMARK’s rigorous global evaluation tests.

At the core of the Pura 80 Ultra’s performance is the industry’s first dual-switchable telephoto camera system. This innovative optical structure integrates both a 3.7x medium telephoto lens and a 9.4x super telephoto lens. The system leverages a 1/1.28-inch main camera sensor for seamless dual integration.

The company states this design provides the market’s highest telephoto light input, marking a 120% improvement over its predecessor, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.

The Pura 80 Pro model also boasts advanced camera capabilities. It features a one-inch Ultra-Luminous Camera that delivers the highest main camera light input available. This model achieves a 12% increase in color accuracy compared to the previous generation. It is complemented by a 48-megapixel telephoto module and a 1.5-megapixel multispectral sensor.

The Pura 80 series introduces a new “Moving Picture” feature. It automatically records 1.5 seconds of video both before and after the shutter is pressed. This functionality allows users to select the best frame from a three-second clip, aiming to capture decisive moments more effectively.

Durability is a key focus for the Pura 80 Ultra, which incorporates second-generation Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass. This material reportedly increases scratch resistance by 16 times and drop resistance by 25 times. It provides enhanced protection against daily wear.

The Pura 80 series is launching in markets such as Portugal. The Pura 80 Pro is priced at approximately $1,190 (1,099 euros). The Pura 80 Ultra carries a price tag of around $1,620 (1,499 euros).

New Huawei customers purchasing devices through December 31, 2025, are eligible for a complimentary premium assistance service. This includes five services such as consulting, cleaning, diagnosis, software updates, and home collection and delivery. Initial launch promotions in some regions include a free Huawei Watch GT5, 12 months of screen protection, and a battery renewal offer.
