Huawei P60 Pro: the rival of the Galaxy S23 Ultra has arrived that still adds surprise

Huawei has just presented the new series of premium smartphones P60 that brings with it three new terminals.

A highlight for the P60 Pro, which will be the great rival of the Galaxy S23 Ultra in photography, but which adds a very welcome surprise: the ability to send and receive messages via satellite communications.

Today, Huawei officially introduced a handful of new features. Among these is the new series of premium smartphones P60 that comes with photographic capabilities capable of standing up to the almighty Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

At the same time, and through a press release sent to the media, the company also revealed that the new P60 series will arrive in Europe on May 9. It will be on this date, at an event to be held in Munich, Germany, that the Chinese brand will make available the three new models in this series: P60, P60 Pro and P60 Art.

But today we have come to know every detail of the terminals that arrive this spring. So let’s get to know all the juicy details.

Let’s start with the design. All three have roughly the same dimensions, and the base and Pro models have the same variety of colors. The P60 Art, as the name implies, shows a more artistic rear panel with a kind of wave running across the surface.

It stands out for the rear camera module that is characterized by being prominent, thanks to the primary sensor that is located among the other sensors in this configuration. In the base and Pro models, this module is rectangular, but in the P60 Art the sensors are housed in a kind of island with curved angles, without geometric precision (or designation).

As for the specifications, all three new models are equipped with the same OLED screen, with curved edges. It provides Quad HD resolution and a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz, allowing energy savings of around 29%.

The differences are noticeable in the processor. The base model comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 while the Pro and Art models feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. Both Qualcomm processors are, in this case, limited to 4G communications, for well-known reasons.

In storage, the Huawei P60 will be the only one to offer a 128 GB variant while the P60 Art will also be the only one with a 1 TB capacity version. In addition, the base model and Pro will also have 256 and 512 GB options while the artistic model will have a second option with 512 GB capacity.

The three new terminals will support 88-watt fast charging. However, the P60 and P60 Pro come with a smaller 4815mAh battery, while the P60 Art is entitled to a 5100mAh battery.

But one of the great novelties is, without a doubt, the integration here of satellite communications with a very welcome attribute. Huawei’s new P60 series allows users to receive and also send text messages (SMS) through the satellite network.

Rear Camera Module Specifications

Without a doubt, the great selling point of the new series will be his talent for photography. Due to the specifications now presented, this could be the smartphone that will face Samsung’s almighty Galaxy S23 Ultra.

All new P60 models feature the brand’s XMAGE technology, as well as variable aperture up to ten speeds. All are also equipped with RYYB sensor and a new XD Fusion Pro texture engine. These attributes will ensure stable images in dark environments as well as sunrise or sunset scenarios.

The P60 Pro stands out for the periscope sensor that comes with an f/2.1 lens that allows you to photograph the Moon (where have we seen this before?) and zoom up to 200x.

But let’s get to the numbers and settings of the camera itself. All three terminals have a 48-megapixel primary sensor with variable aperture and optical image stabilization.

The ultra-wide sensor on the P60 and P60 Pro provides 13-megapixel resolution, but the P60 Art has a 40-megapixel ultra-wide.

As for the telephoto sensor, the base model brings 12 megapixel resolution with optical image stabilization. P60 Pro and P60 Art raise the bar with a 48-megapixel resolution telephoto sensor and also optical image stabilization.
