Huawei is already working on HarmonyOS 2.1 and wants to boost the performance of the P50s

If Huawei is deprived of commerce with Google, that does not prevent it from having developed its own operating system called HarmonyOS (based on Android, it is true). The version 2.0 of the OS, which has just been launched, is already getting ready for an update. HarmonyOS 2.1 is in the starting blocks and will make the most of the Snapdragon 888.

In June 2021, after a long beta test phase, Huawei officially launched its brand new operating system: HarmonyOS 2.0. If the first version of the operating system was mainly dedicated to the Chinese market, the new edition is now available worldwide. This is how we find HarmonyOS 2.0 on two devices that we recently tested, the MatePad 11 tablet and the Huawei Watch 3 connected watch.

The new operating system also accompanies the P50 and P50 Pro, which were presented on July 29. During its online conference, Huawei returned to the novelties of HarmonyOS 2.0, but ultimately did not reveal everything. Because a new version was expected on the new smartphones of the Chinese brand, without it apparently having been finalized on time. Marketed since August 12, 2021, the P50s therefore work for the moment using HarmonyOS 2.0, and not with version 2.1.

HarmonyOS 2.1 will boost the performance of the P50 and P50 Pro

HarmonyOS 2.1 is however well under development. A new leak thus reveals that the new edition of the operating system is optimized for the Snapdragon 888, the SoC that equips the P50 and P50 Pro. We can therefore expect boosted performance in benchmarks and / or in daily use. Other novelties are also expected, but nothing has for the leaked as for their contents.

At present, HarmonyOS version 2.0 is adopted by 8 users every second. 70 million installations have been carried out in this way. In China, the OS is being deployed on the P30, P40, Mate 20, Mate 30 and 40. A beta of HarmonyOS 2.0 should point the tip of its nose in form in mid-September for more smartphones. old Huawei, like the P20 or Mate 10, but also those from Honor like the X10.

As for the launch date of the P50s in Europe, it remains for the moment the great unknown. Huawei does not hide its intention to release its new smartphones elsewhere than in China, but has still not communicated on the date of availability of its new flagships.
